Priyadarshini Unplugged.......

I’ll tell you a little (actually a lot) about me…..

I’m Priyadarshini

My pet name’s Rai

I’m just 18

My Birthday’s on the 19th of November

I’m a Scorpion (Beware!)

I speak English, Bengalee, Hindi (li’l problems with it though) & plan to learn a new language maybe Urdu. My speech is punctuated with a host of acuallys, u knows, definitelys, exactlys and ofcourses !

I’m single

I believe in God, spiritual but not religious

I don’t like pets

I love gadgets , gizmos and mountains !

Strength – My very own self

Weakness – I’m a little impatient

Favourite one liner – “An Idea Can Change Your Life !”

About me …

Electrons exhibit dual nature and so do I.

Believe me I’m a juxtaposition of contraries.

I love mobiles and mountains.

I’ve read One night @ the call centre and also parts of the Atharva Veda.

I am cyber-savvy as well as a nature lover…..

The bottom line is I’m utterly confused.

I talk loads with few people, formally with some and nothing to others. Actually whatever I talk about seems crazy to some people and drab boring to others, few of them take interest and they are my buddies ! I love to be lonely, lost in my own world of virtual reality ! With working parents and no sibling around, I’ve got ample scope to be alone !

Schooling …

I used to be in a school called St. Agnes’ Convent till X, then shifted over to Modern High School for Girls in XI & XII.

5 things I can’t live without …

Dreams

Music

Colours

Books

& my Parents who are the best in the world !

My Passions …

M-U-S-I-C !!!
I love listening to as well as singing all kinds of songs....someday I'll have a band of my own....Over the next four years of engineering I’ll learn to play the guitar !
P-A-I-N-T-I-N-G !!!
Especially Female figurines...
R-E-A-D-I-N-G 'n' P-E-N-I-N-G things down ...
T-H-I-N-K-I-N-G 'n' R-E-F-L-E-C-T-I-N-G .....!

Sports …

Apart from cricket I like tennis. Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova are the ones I shout for. I love David Beckham but definitely for reasons greater than just football !

Activities …

I have been into co as well as extra curricular activities – quizzing, public speaking as in debates, extempores and elocutions, creative writing, one act plays, content writing etc. I love the attention, I was an apple of an eye for all my teachers.

Books …

I love reading books, without them my life is incomplete. I’ve read a whole library by now ! In junior school I finished reading almost all the ‘Nancy Drew’s that our school library had. After that it has been Harry Potters, Chetan Bhagats, Jhumpa Lahiris, Sidney Sheldons, Satyajit Roys, Eric Segals, Dan Browns etc. Reading has taken a back seat with the exams commencing but will resume soon after everything is settled.

What kind of music I like? …

E-N-R-I-Q-U-E Iglesias is my all time favourite !....But Celene Dion, Mariah Carey, BSB, Westlife, Blue, Ronan Keating, Sean Paul,Rihana, Fergie..........All kinds ! And of course the Man who personifies music........A.R.Rahman !!!!! I also love fusion music from Rahul Sharma and the band called APOCALYPTICA.

On the television …

I don’t watch a lot of T.V.,except for cricket . But if I do I go for F.R.I.E.N.D.S, OC, Drake and Josh, Crocodile Hunter Diaries (I love Steve Irwin), Indeah and Ganges that come on NatGeo.

My list of favourite movies …

Pearl Harbour, Jerry Maguire, Pretty Woman, Constant Gardener, Maid in Manhattan, Shall we Dance, Up Close and Personal, If Only, First Daughter, Honey I shrunk the kids, See Spot Run, Uptown Girls, You've got mail, Wimbledon, The Lake House etc etc !! Definitely Rang de Basanti, Roza, Macchis, Sarfarosh, Lagaan, Iqbal & Swades ! And also Satyajit Roy movies in Bengalee. I’m not a keen movie watcher, these are almost all the movies that I’ve seen so far !

Cuisines …

I’m a foody, I love all kinds of Kolkata street food, Chinese and some special bengalee dishes made by my mum, my mum’s great in her culinary skills.

Clothes …

I’m not too conscious of what I wear, anything that I can carry off well. Its jeans and tops most of the time. But I do believe bengalee ladies look great in a saree….

Travelling …

I love going for vacations, I’ve been to many places specially in the Himalayas. I’m crazy about the mountains. I feel a strange oneness with the mountains. Never been beyond India, our country in itself is so beautiful, why go else where for vacations?

Assets …

Me, My computer & my 7 Harry Potters ! I’m very poor because I haven’t earned a penny myself as yet except prize money in contests but I couldn’t have been richer because I’ve got the best mum and dad in the world !

Wishlist …

Lots actually. I keep to myself, but if they are realized I’ll definitely tell you.

Xcerpts "Wings Of Fire".....By APJ........my picks !!!

Being Unorthodox

".....all reasonable men adapt themselves to the world. Only a few unreasonable ones persist in trying to adapt the world to themselves. All progress in the world depends on these unreasonable men and their innovative and often non-conformist actions."

Knowing to Kindle and Restrain

"For all your days prepare
And meet them ever alike
When you are the anvil, bear ---
And when you are the hammer, strike "

Uniting your Avocation and Vocation

"Bread baked without love is a bitter bread that feeds but half a man's hunger.....those who cannot work with their hearts achieve but a hollow half hearted success that breeds bitterness all around. If you are a writer who secretly prefer to be a lawyer or a doctor, your written words will feed but half of the hunger of your readers............The personal unhappiness and failure to achieve results that comes from being a round peg in a square hole is not, by any means new...."

What India forgets.........the world remembers...

"I started my work at the Langley Research Centre (LRC)......From LRC I went to the Goddard Space Flight Centre (GSFC)..........towards the end of my visit I went to the Wallops Flight Facility at Wallops island in east coast Virginia.......base for NASA's sounding rocket programme. Here I saw a painting prominently displayed in the reception lobby. It depicted a battle scene with a few rockets flying in the background. A painting with this theme should be the most commonplace thing at a Flight facility, but the painting caught my eye because the soldiers on the side launching the rockets were not white, but dark skinned, with racial features of people found in South Asia.......my curiosity got the better of me, drawing me towards the painting. It turned out to be Tipu Sultan's army fighting the Brittish. The painting depicted a fact forgotten in Tipu's own country but commemorated here on the other side of the planet. I was happy to see an Indian glorified by NASA as a hero of warfare rocketry."

In Partnership with God.....

I have always been a religious person in the sense that I maintain a working partnership with God. I was aware that the best work required more ability than I possessed and therefore I needed help that only God could give me. I made a true estimate of my own ability, then raised it by 50% and put myself in God's hands. In this partnership, I have always received all the power I needed, and in fact have actually felt it flowing through me. Today I can confirm that the kingdom of God is within you in the form of this power, to achieve your goals and realise your dreams."

Wings to our Innate Fire.....

".....never feel small or helpless. We are all born with a divine fire in us. Our efforts should be to give wings to this fire and fill the world with the glow of its goodness."

Some more update will be made.....SoOn !
